We're at the start of the Sahara, and we've got to test the car in slopy sand dunes. A bit scarry driving in such loose conditions, but the car handled superbly. We've driven with the tire pressure at 20 psi on the straight dessert, as you never know when the mud hits us.
In the slopy sand dunes we've drained the car tires down to 10 psi, and it's functioned well. The tires get very hot down here, so we need to be careful not to drain to much air out of the wheels because the rubber can tear itself away from the rims.
It's nice finally getting this far on our journey, and finally seing some real sand dunes. We can now for sure say that this trip has been a sucsess, with an Arctic Truck (the first to drive in the Sahara).
Tonight we'll set up camp in the dessert, and enjoy a nice cold beer, somehting we deserve after a long and hot day. Wish you all could be here with us to enjoy the landscape and the quietnes in the dessert, the wind blowing gently around us, and the temprature at a plessant 30 Selsius.
This morning we shopped 20 liters of water and som food. You never know how long we'll be here in the dessert, or if the rain comes, but we've checked with the weather forecast and it's looking promissing for our further safe journey. The sun dessends quick out in the desert, so I'll hurry up writing this text.
Some pictures of the day, says more than words:
A Prado waving friendly back
An apple and some Red Bull and we're back in the game
Fantastic fun
Driving tilted along the edge of the sand dunes
At last we're driving in the Sahara dessert
On our way to the sand dunes of the dessert, finaly
Some playing and learning driving in the sand
Martin taking in the view of the dessert. Breath taking
Getting ready the camp for a night in the Sahara dessert
A beautiful view. An Arctic Truck in the Sahara dessert
The start to our journey through the sand dunes
Cewl with camels :-)
The west Sahara. Breathtaking beautiful
