Off-Road, the best way to drive!

Today we finally started our off-road section through the forests and the Atlas mountains. Zagora is one of our first goals before we will commence the hardest part of the off-road driving, and there are several small places we have to go through. Morocco is a very big country ...
Today we've stopped to camp in the Zedar woods, and got some shade from the strong sun. We just stopped in Azrou a small town on the road to the mountains. We have traded food and more water on the market and had some hot food at a cafe right by the road where we have eye control on the car.

Today Temperature's of 30 C in the lowlands, but here in the woods it's 22 C at 2000 meters. In the car it's about 25 C. Everything is bright and we have slept well last night. It was a very windy night, at times we thought the roof tent would collapse. Rumors say it's a sand storm along Algeria, but blowing west and will move us closer to our route  hopefully ....
Tonight we'll have a good long shower and treat our selfs a little extra. It was a great experience this morning taking a shit among cactus and all the weird sounds around the bushes ...
We've had a problem with the refrigerator, it has stopped at times, but found out the reason today was a switch failure, but I quickly fixed it, and now we have ice cold drinks at 2 degrees C :-)
Otherwise there is not much new to report about the car. It cruises along stylish without any problems at all. Arctic Trucks is turning stir in the country, but it's incredibly comfortable to cruise through the country with such an units..
Martin and I have heard through all the thousands of songs 2 times on the ipod in the car, and talked a lot about people and all the new impression and culture. Time flies and before we know it we're through Sahara and on our way home. We miss and think of our family, especially when we see so much unity the local people have down here .. But then again, we think the weather in Norway is not a tempting thought, when we have so lovely weather here in Africa. It's a trip we've worked long and hard to reach, so as the time fly things simply go too fast and it's hard to take in all impression .. It's processed bit by bit when we get home.
Otherwise, there are several 1000's of pictures we have taken, but it's slightly random what we post on the blog. We simply don't have enough time to work through every picture since it takes too long turning up a new camp every time. And last but not least, we are hungry and tired, it requires a lot sitting for hours in the car concentrating, when only the heat itself is enough to exhaust us.
Some photos from yesterday evening and today ...

Meknes Ohoi!

Hi to all. Great day, and long... We have just got to Meknes, traveling on back roads for 700 km. Everything have been going very well with the ferry and the border control.

It's about 36 C now, but it'll get much hotter the further we travel in to the dessert.. No problems with the car at all, and it's very nice having the AC :-). Stepping outside the car after several hours is kind of a shock, we soon forget how hot it realy is out side..

Now it's time to put up the roof tent and get something to eat. We're drinking about 2 liter of water a day, and it would have been much more if we didn't have the AC in the car !!

We've been traveling through many small villages today, and its amazing seeing how people still make a living!.. Reminding us how fortunate we are, living in Norway..

We've seen many other offroad travelers, some English and Spanish. Everyone asking many questions about the car. All just very friendly and we talk sign language and "beginners" English. Not all Spanish speak English.

We don't expect to se so much people the next few days, so we wave from the car to all the childrens standing by the roads.. Morocco is a very nice country and we've just started crossing  some of it today :-)

Hugs and kisses to special family and freinds .

David and Martin finally in Morocco :-)

At last we're going to Morocco

Today we have stocked up on water, beer and food that will last us for at least 4 days, but we are hoping to buy more local food in Morocco as we travel on. The ARB frigde in the car is 47 liters big so we can't pack to much at the time.

We have had a longer session on the car today, looked through all bolts and tighten everything. Some bolts was infact a bit lose on the skid plates under the car.

To night we will rest up and eat our last good meal in Spain. The car is now ready to travel to the ferry and we plan to leave from the hotel at 07:00 tomorrow morning.

When we are traveling around the small streets in spain people look at us like we are lost(very funny). The big car is a big mystery to most, but very friendly people and the ones we speak with says the car is a monster and very very very very nice.. "We like" they say, not so much English speaking  people in Spain but very nice they say a lot, and aslo we like :-)

Today is just another hot warm nice, sunny day. Martin is outside now and hoping to get pink, and I'm in the hotel room updating the blog for you. The to last days I've been running to the WC, but I feel better now.

To morrow we start our crossing to Morocco, and we are very exited. So keep tuned , we will post again tomorrow.

Goodnight from Alicante!

At last Malaga - Soon we'll be in Morocco

We have just arrived at the Alhurian Golf Hotel, about 50km outside of Malaga town. The ferry to Morocco doesn't depart before the 5th of october, but we had to start our travel through Europe in good time so if anything would have happend to the car we would have had time to fix it and still make time for the ferry crossing. We bought the tickets many moths ago...

We have made good time throug Europe with no troubles, from Stavanger to Malaga we have driven 3300 km. We had some detours to take since the GPS did speak to slow some times, if you miss a exit on the highway you have to drive for miles until you can make an exit to get back on the right road. We have only missed 4 exits on the whole trip. That in all have made us travel for 3 hours longer. Not to bad. Still we have to wait until wednesday morning to start our travel in to Morocco.

Anyway we have just got our first shower since thursday and Martin could not last remember when a shower felt that good....

We will stay at the hotel for 1,5 days, and its good to rest up well after traveling through all of Europe with heavy traffic. To night we will have a good dinner at the hotel and drink Heiniken beer in the
hotel room that I infact did bring with me from Norway :-)

Tomorrow we will sleep in, since we have not slept good in the roof tent not far from the highways brawling!!.. Its about 30 C here in Malaga and a nice light breze..(Glad we did not travel in high summer) We have only seen blue sky since we left Denmark and expecting even warmer days in Morocco.

Tomorrow we will have a good look at the car and fill it up with diesel and stock up on food, so we can relax the rest of thursday before heading out for 2 weeks in the car.

Through Europe we have not made many stops so all pictures is only from cruising speed in the car. But here is some pic from our travel today in spain.

Sorry for the short post yesterday, but I was wrighting in the car will Martin was driving in the dark, and we made a wrong exit and the GPS whent bannans, as did Martin, hehe. So by mistake and stressed at the time I deleted everything i has ready to post... :( O'well thats life, but life is good now on the road.

Sending a big hello to all freinds and famaly , we are thinking of you all the time and hope you are all following us..

Hola España, Morocco next :-)

We had a good night sleep in the French forest just 200 meters from the highway :-) Washed our hair and had a panini from yesterday :-)

We had to fix the roof tent cause a bolt got broken, but nothing we couldn't  fix. We have traveled 2800 km since we left Stavanger, and we are passing Madrid as im wrighting this. To morrow we will arrive at Malaga.

More update tomorrow, (didn't write much, but maid a mistake and deleted it all). Martin is driving and we took some wrong turns so that we went in to Madrid town, the traffic and roads are crazy, so I'll have to be short.

Pictures from today.
